Shorea Wood

One of the most important benefits of shorea wood is its resistance to rot and bug damage. With little or no maintenance, shorea will last many years outdoors.
Shorea has a remarkable ability to withstand the effects of wind, rain, sun and snow. Left untreated, shorea will weather naturally to a warm shade of gray.
During wet weather, some surface roughness may develop but over a period of about one year the natural weathering process will stabilize. Some hairline cracks may appear but these are only on the surface and in no way effect the structural integrity of the furniture.
We believe this is the best way to "maintain" your bench. Sit back, enjoy the scenery, and do nothing at all. Let nature take its course by turning your bench into a beautiful rich work of art.
